Sofa Sans Hand: a new handmade layered typeface

Austria designer Georg Herold-Wildfellner, who runs the studio Buerofliegenpilz, recently released Sofa Sans Hand, a handmade layered typeface.
The font family comes in all caps, with 4 weights from monolinear thin to black, and a total of 18 styles. It also incles some cool OpenType features like swashes and titling alternates, with a total of more than a thousand characters.

Cape Town Type

Clement de Bruin is a very sophisticated typographer and most of all illustrator coming from Cape Town South Africa. His work begins at 100mph and never let’s you loose your eye. Controlled mixtures of letters and a good sense for experiencing is the main focus of his ideas. Even skateboards are fallen under the control of his typography. Enjoy his artworks!

Kraft Paper lettering

James Lewis, designer and typography specialist from Cardiff, UK sent us this nice new project of him. Lettering with brushes and different colors on Kraft paper. For his letters he uses first of all a sketch and than he begins to think of painting the letter. Starting with the inner like you can see in the video, he uses different techniques to fill it.

The Bolted Book

The bolted book was created by Fortunato Depero in 1927. It is also called Depero Futurista, famously bound together by two large aluminium bolts. Recognized as one of the most fascinating and interesting avantgarde books inspired by the dadaism the copies are very rare on this planet.

Paper State Flowers

Paper State Flowers is a nice project form two designers from Minnesota, Ellen Schofield and David Rogers. In order to make a step back from our heavily digital environment and collaborate on tangible work, they created something handmade. Every state in the US has an official state flower and this became our focal point—the flower and the state’s two letter postal abbreviation.

In 1450, Johannes Gutenberg entered into an agreement with one Johann Fust, a Mainzer goldsmith and guildsman, to borrow a staggering 800 Rheingulden at 6 percent interest. Inspired by vintage lettering, Sonder uses rough edges and inked center pieces to give a nice used-up effect. It works perfectly for bold headings and logos. Making Fonts: Proza Libre

When I started the development of Proza, I didn’t want to deal with the limitations of a low-resolution rasterizer. As a result, Proza is completely stuffed with diagonal and curved lines, and tiny details that help to bring the texture alive in print, but that are something of a nightmare for a low-resolution rasterizer.

Making Grifo

Grifo, the Portuguese word for griffin, a mythical creature with the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion. We can imagine how threatening this creature might appear, and would probably want to stay well clear of its sharp claws and beak. Grifo the typeface also has sharp serifs and terminals.
